We are so looking forward to seeing you! Ideally, if the weather cooperates, the ceremony (roughly 30 minutes) will take place outside overlooking Mount Washington. It can be a bit chilly at the end of October in the New Hampshire mountains, so please dress accordingly. The reception will take place in a heated tent and will have a cashbar. The entire celebration will be taking place on flat terrain, so no need to worry about mud or grass!

Party
Our wedding ends at 7:00pm, and we doubt we want the party to stop then! Please join us for a casual after party at the Sea Dog Brewing Company. This will be a fun, low key event - we've reserved the upstairs space at the brewery - there are couches, chairs, tables and even Nintendo (Yes, Chris is most excited about this!) Let's all get ourselves a flight a beers and some appetizers, and spend more time together for this joyous occasion!

We met at Starbucks! He spilled his grande cappuccino on me and as he tried to help me clean up we looked into each others eyes and fell in love at first sight...

NOOOOO. That's not what happened. Like many couples these days, this love story starts on the internet. A shy Christopher saw Jill and 'liked' her profile. This sent an alert to Jill who looked at Christopher's pictures and thought he looked like a nice guy. Being as forward as she is, Jill messaged Chris. At first, it was like pulling teeth...

Jill: 'Hi, I'm Jill! How are you?'

Chris: 'Fine'

Jill: 'What are you up to this evening?'

Chris: 'Nothing'

This little one word dance went on for a little while until Chris opened up a little. They decided to exchange numbers and speak on the phone. Chris asked Jill out several times, but it wasn't until just after Christmas 2015 did they have their first date.

After the worst possible 'first date' movie you could think of - 'The Danish Girl' Chris got up the courage to kiss Jill! And Jill, known for her skills of persuasion, managed to have Chris try something completely new for the first time: cheesecake!

They saw each other the next day, and pretty much every single day since then. Jill still gets Chris to try new things, Chris keeps Jill grounded. Their days filled with love and support when things get tough. By the wedding they will have been engaged two years and can't wait to walk down the aisle!

I pushed the last bit of anniversary cake around the plate with my fork. I looked out the window, the water seemed endless in every direction. Chris and I were just coming off one of the best weeks of our lives. A week where the sun kissed our cheeks, nightly candle lit dinners.

The slot machine lit up bright red and yellow, the audio clip of clinking change played over and over. I was $182 dollars richer, but this story is about how I really won the lottery.

The time: 8:30pm. The place: Norwegian Cruise Lines “Breakaway” ship. The mood: not even winning the slots can cheer me up, this had been the best vacation of my life, and I was not ready to go home tomorrow. We finished up dinner when Chris told me he wanted to take one more look at the watches. The thing about cruise ships, no matter where you’re going you always end up at the shopping. All week we had been browsing - Chris wanted a watch, but he can never make up his mind. I left Chris to his watches and told him I wanted to take one last look at the ring. This ring and I had been acquainted from earlier in the week. NCL had a very special, rare, one of kind snowflake cut kind of ring. I had never seen anything so beautiful. I had probably logged about 2 hours with it on my finger this week, the sales people trusted me with it -what was I going to do, swim away? Chris thought it was stunning, and Nathan, the sales rep, had been talking with us all week. He was very sweet and had gotten to know him quite well. Slowly he kept coming down on price but it was still too expensive. Chris and I are a very practical and savvy couple. I smiled at Nathan and walked past to the jewelry case. “One last peek” I told him, I knew the store was closing momentarily. I looked down at the brightly lit case, searching for the ring - it was no where to be found! I looked up at Nathan, a look of fear in my eyes. He walked up to my and softly said “I’m so sorry Jill, it’s been sold. I told you these items are rare, people like rare jewelry, I’m so very sorry.”

My heart hit the floor, and I smiled politely. Chris walks over, puts his hand on the small of my back looking down at the case, and I tell him the news - “someone bought the ring”. Without missing a beat, he says “Well, it must have been a smart guy who bought it...”

Then - many things happened at once - time seemed to speed up and yet slow down at the same time.

I said to Chris “Umm...I’m sorry, what?”

Then he pulled me tightly into his arms and whispered, “Will you marry me?”

Again I said “Wait, what?”

“I bought the ring for you this morning while you were getting coffee, will you marry me?”

“Oh my god, of course! Yes of course I will marry you!”

I was so shocked, confused, and delightfully happy all at once. I was very overwhelmed.

All of a sudden Nathan is hugging me, I have the ring on my finger, at the exact same time they are bringing us out champagne to toast and simultaneously putting away the watches - it’s 10:50 - the store is closing at 11:00pm!

And all of a sudden, it hits me. The love of my life has asked me to marry him. The guy that has been there for me every time I’ve needed him for the last few years. The man who dries my tears and makes me laugh til I almost pee. The person who runs out to get NyQuil in the middle of the coldest night of the year, the man who makes me feel safe, supported, and loved every minute of the day. The guy who loves to go on adventures with me, who has seen me at my worst and still thinks I’m beautiful. He’s my person, he’s the first one I want to tell anything to - good or bad. He knocks it out the park, I think he’s the bees knees, and he feels the exact same way about me. And he wants to be my partner in this life, for the rest of our days.

And then, I start to cry. I mean really cry. I’m not talking about the whole “this is so beautiful” shed a lovely little tear, I mean the ugly, snotty “why are you marrying her?” kind of cry.

All at once, champagne is being poured, I’m hugging and kissing the love of my life, we are taking photos on my cell phone, and the store is closed, we need to leave. I give back the ring to be sized.

It’s 11:00pm, and even though most folks are asleep to dock in NYC first thing in the morning, there is still a wonderful buzz in the air. We walk on cloud 9 down the one of the ships bars, I decide I need a little air. The cool crisp air feels refreshing, buts it’s chilly, so we have the deck to ourselves. The wonderful jazz band we had seen the night before is still playing their set. They start to sing “Georgia on my mind” and Chris takes me into his arms and we dance nice and slow. I place my head on his shoulder, can this be real?

We went back to our room and move our already packed bags. I asked him what happened this week? He told me “I had so much fun this week. Swimming in the most beautiful places, eating the most wonderful food, and it dawned on me; none of it matters if it’s not with you”.

I kissed him, and told him this was the best night of my life. We closed our eyes and feel asleep as we dreamed about coming back to reality, but just starting our first steps to happy ever after.
